Imagine if Brooklyn's fences — ones that currently say "keep out" — were instead lush hedges of native berries, buzzing with bees and alive with butterflies, free for anyone in the neighborhood to harvest.
We call it Fences of Abundance and we need your help to make it happen.
Our first official Fence of Abundance is underway at the DOE District 13 office on the corner of Underhill Avenue and Park Place in Prospect Heights. Right now it's a forbidding double fenced fortress with a weedy lawn that everyone walks past and ignores. But it’s actually a sundrenched plot with the potential to be so much more. The chainlink fence is coming down. Native wildflowers, berries and fruit trees are moving in.
Will you help us build an ecological corridor that benefits wildlife AND offers the community the gift of berries?
